Fort Worth Water Gardens

Last night the kids and I joined my mom and brother, for, what was supposed to be my dads last football game of the season. I say supposed to be because they ended up killin' it and are now headed to the PLAYOFFS! That's another post for another time.

The drive to Lake Worth is 2 hours so we all crashed on my dad's apartment floor(yes, my parents currently are residing in two different residences-hopefully not for much longer).

Anyway, today we hung out in Fort Worth while my dad the coaching thing. We started off with breakfast at IHOP then headed down town. My mom had heard of the Water Gardens but had never been so we decided to give it a shot. After circling downtown for twenty minutes we finally found a parking meter and parked. Funny thing about this...AFTER I paid for the meter, I actually then read the meter and realized weekends are free. Yep, there went my hard owned 75 cents.

We made it to our destination and were literally all in awe. Even the KIDS. It was so beautiful. The main attraction was the Active Water Pool.

(The road up where those men are-we were inside the pool)

They also have a Quiet Pool. The name says it all. I accidentally deleted the pics of that pool though. :(
However, I got some pretty cool shots of the kids and the trees in the pool area.

These last photos are from the kids just running up and down and all over the concrete walls.

All in all it was a really neat place to. We'll definitely take daddy back. :)

Storybook Tea Party

Today was a fairytale.

This morning Taya, my mom and I got to attend a tea party at the high school. It was all about little girls favorite storybooks. Goldilocks and The Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, Peter Pan, The Tortoise and The Hare and much more. And all the popular nursery rhythms. Itsy, Bitsy Spider. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, I'm A Little Tea Pot, Mary Had A Little Lamb and so on. The high school students all dressed up as the different storybook characters. Really neat costumes...brought to life.

While there we ate. The "Fare" consisted of the following:

Fairy Godmother's Hat with Marshmallow Pop Topper
Cinderella's Slipper Cupcake
Chicken Little's Sandwich
Humpty Dumpty's Pinwheel
Tinkerbell's Fruit Wand
Miss Muffet's Orange Scone with Clotted Cream and Jam
Ariel's Magic Punch
Hot Tea

Halloween 2012

It's so hard to believe that Halloween has already come and gone and that 2012 is quickly coming to an end. It seems like the years just crawl when you're a child but as you mature and become an adult, the years fly by. Always planning a birthday party, preparing for sports games, gearing up for holiday festivities or being filled with excitement for the yearly vacation trips. Whatever it is, you just stay busy.

This Halloween Matt had to work so my mom gladly joined in the craziness. We had a zombie, a "jacked up" football player and a cowgirl cheerleader(she just couldn't decide...so she was a little of both). I felt pretty safe :-)

I've never done face painting and/or make-up'ing so I was pretty impressed with my work.

(Still not sure what that look is)

The plan was to go to the "mansions" again and walk our tails off. First we made a quick stop for a fun, quick hayride and then off to the "mansions". Once we got to the church I realized plans had changed. This was a good option for the whole night. They had three hayrides. A very kid friendly one for the little bits to trick-or-treat, a medium one for the older kids to trick-or-treat as well as be a bit scared and then the "scary" one(this involves no getting candy, just plain ole' monsters jumping out). The boys wanted scary(truth be told, so did I) and Taya wanted the kiddie one. So we compromised and did the medium one.

All three hayrides were "tricked out" real nice-like. Side note: the girl raising her hand(Kennedy) lives across from my folks and has a huge crush on Ethan and the one in the blue(Kiley) is Ethan's ex.

(Ready to go! Corbin was clearly annoyed with me...)

(Witch?)

On our way we went...trick-or-treating. As we made our way through the neighborhood, there were several scary "things" jumping out. I was loving it, however, my darling Taya...not so much. At one point she screamed "I don't like this place no more!" (place being the hayride). My mom and I died laughing.

Once we got done gathering our candy(and children) we headed back to the church. Lucky for me and the boys the scary hayride was just starting to load. We dropped Taya and Mema inside to grab some snacks and back out we went. Me and my boys on a haunted hayride. It was awesome. Needless to say, Corbin ended up in the center of the trailer with all the little girls. Ethan was on the edge and took it like a champ. And I somehow ended up with a little 6 year girl named Tyler in my lap! Gotta give her props for even boarding the trailer!

By the time all the hayrides were said and done it was too late to go to the "mansions". The boys were a bit bummed about that but I still think they all three had a pretty great time. And hey, we'll try to make it to the "mansions" next year.
